Recently, I got a question from a member on my facebook group saying “I am NOT persistant enough to achieve what I need. I get distracted easily. That’s my biggest problem.”

I even get other questions like “I have done various jobs, but I just can’t identify which one I should stick to on the long run?”

Well, let’s try to find a step-by-step solution to this problem.

Step 1

Answer the question, if I could do just staying focused one job, career or business for the rest of my life, what would it be? Just write down whatever comes to your mind. Don’t judge at this point in time. If you have about 10 answers, that’s fine, just write them down without judging.

Step 2

Now look at your list and choose one. Some people may say write down the pro’s and cons of each business, job and career. So, write down the pros and cons or advantages and disadvantages of each career, business or job.

If you feel comfortable talking to experts in each of those careers, jobs and businesses go ahead and talk to experts in each of those businesses.

If you don’t know any such experts, just look into your local yellow pages or google search and make a cold call. Who knows, you might end up finding a business partner or even a job.

Step 3

Make that decision. Once you’ve written your pros and cons and spoken to experts in your field. The next step is to make that decision on the career, job or business you wish to pursue.

Most people have fear when it comes to decision making. The biggest reason for that is that they don’t want to be wrong.

The only thing I can say about this is Vasco Di’Gama the great discoverer probably travelled all over the world and eventually found the tiny island he was looking for not too far away from his backyard.

This is a self-discovery process and you will probably miss the mark several times before you come close to hitting the bull’s eye.

Step 4

Now that you’ve made a decision on your career, business or job. It’s time to spend 30 minutes a day learning something about your business or career. You should perhaps dedicate 30 minutes every single day for the rest of your life learning and making it your mission to be the best you can be in your chosen profession.

I hope this step-by-step process helps.
